TIRA THE POLKA DOTTED ZEBRA

Tira is the only known polka dotted zebra whose body is covered by mostly black. This unique beauty was born in Serengeti Tanzania and is one of the zebras in the Serengeti great migration often crossing between Maasai Mara national reserve in Kenya and Serengeti National Park in Tanzania.

This unique Zebra is born with a condition caused by pseudomelanism or melanism, which is is the increased development of the dark-colored pigment melanin in the skin or hair. This is why Tira’s skin is mostly coated black with white spots.
