Tanzania Ranked Second In UNWTO

According to a report released on November 30th by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in Madrid, Spain, Tanzania has experienced a 19% growth in foreign tourists as of September this year compared to 2019 (pre-COVID-19 levels).

The November edition of the “World Tourism Barometer” revealed that Tanzania ranks second in Africa for this growth, surpassed only by Ethiopia with a 26% increase.

Globally, Tanzania holds the 12th position, following nations that are heavily investing in diverse tourism promotion, formally led by Qatar and followed by Saudi Arabia, Andorra, and Albania. Tanzania also secured the 10th position worldwide and the 3rd in Africa (after Mauritius and Morocco) in terms of tourism sector revenue growth, recording an outstanding 26% increase since 2019.

These achievements are marked as efforts of the Tanzanian Government under President Samia Suluhu Hassan and the adequate collaboration of tourism stakeholders.
