TAWA Rescues Elephant Calf

Conservation officers from the Tanzania Wildlife Authority (TAWA) successfully rescued a 4-week-old elephant cub from a muddy pit in Kwamsanja village, near the Wamimbiki Game Reserve.

The cub got separated from its herd and stumbled into the pit, but thanks to a concerned citizen’s report, the Wamimbiki Game Reserve team initiated the rescue operation.

Commander Emmanuel Lalashe, one of the rescuers, expressed gratitude to the local residents near Wamimbiki Reserve for their cooperation and dedication in protecting Tanzania’s natural resources, especially the wildlife in the reserve.
